The Centre for New Food Technologies and Processes (CENTA) is a non-profit foundation commited to contribute to the modernization and competitiveness of the agi-food industry.

Its mission is to help to improve the competitiveness of the agri-food companies, facilitating their access to technologies, processes and innovative products.

Its vision is to establish itself as a technical reference in the European food sector.

CENTA  aims at contributing to the modernization and competitiveness of companies in the food industry through the development and application of new technologies and food processes, technology transfer, training, and the incorporation of innovations in all related areas (technology, services, management ... etc.).

CENTA is a member of the Associated Schools Network System of Cooperative Research and Development Institute for Research and Technology (IRTA) that allows us to offer global solutions to the challenges of the food industry.

CENTA also is integrated to the brand TECNIO - network  created by ACC1Ó which brings together Catalonia’s mainapplied research and technology transfer experts.- and this strengthens CENTA’s position as a technical reference to the European food sector.

For most of new technologies (high hydrostatic pressure, radio frequency, microwave, dynamic drying, drying and processing of liquid foods, etc. ...), the centre offers equipment with production capacities superior to what a pilot plant would offer. In such a way, companies have real tools to discover the cost effectiveness of the use of new technologies and can perform market research with real products, developed and validated in CENTA.

For other technologies, where it is necessary to study the industrial potential, the centre offers pilot equipment (electrical pulses, light pulses, autoclaves, ovens, sorting robots, etc ...), to study and validate processes and to develop new products.
